劇情簡介：

     一名身患遺傳性眼疾且即將失明的捷克女子─莎瑪，在1964年帶著唯一的兒子移民到美國，每天努力工作所得來一點點的積蓄，都放在治療兒子即將失明的眼睛。正當她存好這筆龐大的醫藥費準備讓兒子動手術之際，她的鄰居兼好友比爾卻將這筆錢偷去，並企圖栽贓莎瑪。莎瑪殺了比爾被判死刑後，雖有機會獲得減刑；然而當莎瑪得知律師費用是以兒子的手術費來支付時，便毅然決然地放棄此機會。在死刑執行的前一刻，一步一步走向死亡的母親唯一掛念的只有兒子是否能如她所願完成手術。

     Selma, a Czech woman, has a hereditary eye disease and is going to be blind. She immigrates to America and work hard every day to cure the eyes of his only son who is also going to be blind. After she saves much money, Bill, her neighbor and good friend, steals his money. Therefore, Selma kills Bill and is sentenced to death. If she can pay the lawyer's fees, her penalty probably could be reduced. But she gives up herself and spends the money curing his son. When she is executed by hanging, she is only concerned with his son's surgery rather than her life.
